Applications:

PTFE, or Polytetrafluoroethylene, is used in the manufacture of equipment for use in the marine environment: seals and sealing rings, valve seats and discs, and technical parts subjected to heat or chemical attack.

Advantages: 

  • Extensive chemical resistance
  • Very high thermal resistance
  • Very good insulation
  • Very good coefficient of friction
  • Resistance under load
  • Limited wear resistance
  • Excellent temperature resistance

Disadvantages:

  • Difficult to weld
  • Cannot be glued naturally
  • Specific treatment required
